Police are investigating an act of anti-Semitic vandalism at Floyd Bennett Field after a freelance photographer captured the offensive markings over the weekend. A spokesperson for the National Park Service says rangers found a pair swastikas painted on two different trees in a community garden Saturday. Several rocks and a bench were also defaced with an acronym believed to be written in Polish. The representative says park police are working with the NYPD hate crime task force to locate suspects, and that this is first reported incident at the site. The airfield is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is no longer used for commercial flights.
