Officials: Vandals destroy fencing, torch trees in Fort Greene Park

Officials are searching for the vandals who torched trees and destroyed fencing in Fort Greene Park.

The vandalism happened sometime late Sunday night or early yesterday morning, according to officials.

A number of wooden and metal fences used to keep parkgoers out of certain areas were torn up and Christmas trees that were dropped off to be turned into mulch were burned, according to investigators.

Parks officials say they are currently assessing the damage to the park and working with the fire department.
