Brooklyn sweethearts who have defied the odds and made it work for 50 years and counting received a special champagne toast and Valentine's Day celebration yesterday.

Borough President Marty Markowitz threw a party for longtime couples, providing an afternoon of dinner, dancing and romance. Many shared stories of how they met, which included high school sweethearts and one couple who came together in a Nazi concentration camp.

The lovebirds offered up some relationship advice too. Many said that it's all about love and trust, not perfection.
