'Summer Stroll' gains momentum in Bay Ridge

A plan to transform part of 3rd Avenue into a temporary plaza this summer is gaining momentum in Bay Ridge.

The "Summer Stroll" proposal would close the avenue between 81st and 89th street on four Fridays to give residents a chance to enjoy local shops, eateries and live street music.

Some merchants shot down the original idea fearing noise and parking issues, but officials say a newer version seems promising. Community Board 10 is expected to vote on the plan later this month.
