NYPD head thanks BK clergy for drop in crime

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is thanking the Brooklyn Clergy/NYPD Coalition for its help in bringing down the borough's crime rate.

Kelly said that the coalition's efforts, including town hall meetings, gang interventions and gun buyback programs, have contributed to a historic decline in the number of murders in Brooklyn.

Statistics show that murders fell below 200 in 2011.
