Injured firefighter released from hospital

FDNY firefighter Robert Wiedmann was released from the hospital today after suffering severe burns in a Brooklyn house fire late last year. Wiedmann left New York-Presbyterian Hospital to a standing ovation from family members, fellow firefighters and Commissioner Salvatore Cassano. Doctors say more than 50 percent of his body was critically injured, and that multiple skin grafts were done to save his life. He was hurt back in December 2011 when responding to a fire in Crown Heights. "Three months is a long time," says Wiedmann. "It's an emotional thing, obviously." The father of three is from Islip Terrace on Long Island.
