DEC to modify BK Navy Yard to control water flow
The Department of Environmental Conservation is increasing its efforts to better protect the borough's waterways. Department officials say they want to turn the roof of the Brooklyn Navy Yard into a green infrastructure to help absorb water and prevent sewers from overflowing. The Navy Yard was chosen due to its 1 million-square-feet of industrial space and 68,000-square-feet of rooftop space.
