A Brooklyn woman who says a misdiagnosis forced the amputation of her hands and feet has agreed to settle with the city and Brooklyn Hospital for nearly $18 million.
The controversy first started in 2008 when Tabitha Mullings, a mother of three, went to the emergency room at Brooklyn Hospital.
She was told she had kidney stones and was sent home, but it turned out that she was suffering from a severe infection and had to have her hands and feet amputated.
Mullings accused the Brooklyn Hospital of misdiagnosing her infection and said her 911 call wasn't taken by the city.
Under the settlement, the city and Brookyn Hospital are not admitting any responsibility.
Mullings is still undergoing therapy and says the settlement gives her some closure.
