DOE approves 2 Brooklyn school mergers

The Panel for Educational Policy has approved big changes for several city schools, including two mergers in Brooklyn.
A number of students joined parents and teachers in Fort Greene Thursday night in an Occupy Wall Street-style protest against expanding charter schools into public schools.
Despite some protests, the Department of Education (DOE) said the charter school Brooklyn Success Academy will merge with J.H.S. 50, while Explore Exceed Charter School will be co-located with P.S. 22.
Many argued that overcrowding will become an issue, but other parents say they're pleased with the decisions.
