Parents outraged over bed bugs at P.S. 224
Bed bugs found in an East New York elementary school have parents rushing to get their kids out. Parents say what they're most upset about is the lack of communication from officials at P.S. 224. They say while a letter that was sent out to parents on Tuesday saying a bed bug specimen was found in a classroom, only the parents whose kids are in the classroom where the bed bug was found were notified. The Department of Education insists the school is not infested, but they did confirm that three different bed bug incidents were reported inside P.S. 224 since February. Parents say they can't afford to keep their kids home because there's city-wide testing this week, which is why they're pushing for a meeting with both the school principal and the Department of Education to demand that an exterminator be brought in.
