Hundreds honor BK firefighter at funeral

Hundreds of mourners filled the pews at the church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Long Island Saturday morning to mourn Lt. Richard Nappi, the Brooklyn firefighter who died while fighting a fire Monday in Bushwick.
Outside the church, thousands of firefighters stood in formation to honor their fallen brother as his flag-draped casket was carried inside. Neighbors and fellow firefighters remembered Nappi as a man with a big personality who was devoted to his family and his job.
"I just want everyone to know that Rich was a hero," said his neighbor Joanie McGreevor.
Inside the church, Mayor Michael Bloomberg delivered the eulogy, recounting how Nappi was a first responder to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, on what was supposed to be his day off.
Nappi is survived by his wife and two children.
