Hero's send-off at hospital for officer hurt in BK shooting
The last of four NYPD officers injured in a Brooklyn shooting over the weekend was released from the hospital today to cheers from his colleagues on the force.
Detective Michael Keenan left Lutheran Medical Center after being wounded during a hostage situation on Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay on Saturday. Capt. Al Pizzano, Michael Granahan and Detective Kenneth Ayala had already been treated for their injuries and released.
Keenan, a 28-year veteran of the NYPD, was shot in the calf. He got a hero's send-off at the hospital today, with members of the detective unit there to show support.
According to authorities, 33-year-old Nakwon Foxworth was holding his pregnant girlfriend and 4-month-old son captive when gunfire erupted between him and the police.
Foxworth is expected to be arraigned later this week.
