In anticipation of Easter Sunday, a prayer walk was held in Brooklyn today to honor the holiday and take a stand against violence.

For 45 years, Catholics across the city have been taking to the streets to spread their faith in God's love. This year, young people representing different churches walked 10 miles in unison from Brooklyn to Queens during the annual walk known as "Caminata."

Organizers of the event say they chose the theme "Fight for Justice, Live for Jesus" because they wanted to inspire the youth to view their faith as an agent of change and social justice.

Along the way to their final destination in Queens, participants of the walk were encouraged to contemplate faith and their roles in their communities, much like Christians believe Jesus contemplated his human life on his way to Calvary.
