Several Brooklyn projects will get thousands of dollars in funding through a City Council initiative called participatory budgeting. Last week, city councilmen Brad Lander (D-39th District) and Jumaane Williams (D-45th District) let their communities vote on how millions of dollars should be spent. Brooklyn residents in their districts could vote to allocate money toward fixing schools, parks, transportation and more. A school and an intersection are among the winners. P.S. 124 won more than $100,000 for bathroom repairs, and $200,000 was allotted for safety improvements at the intersection of Prospect Expressway and Church Avenue.
