Lawsuit against livery street hails gains traction

The lawsuit against the city's plan to allow livery cabs to legally pick up street hails in the outer boroughs is gaining traction.

Public advocate and possible mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio is throwing his name behind the suit, arguing that the new cars will undermine current taxi drivers.

Starting in June, 18,000 drivers will be able to purchase permits and hit the streets.
