3 Brooklyn officers promoted by the NYPD
Three NYPD officers were promoted today in a special ceremony almost two months after they were wounded while responding to a hostage situation in Sheepshead Bay.
Detective Kenneth Ayala, officer Michael Keenan and officer Matthew Granahan were all part of an emergency service unit called to an apartment in April after suspect Nakwon Foxworth barricaded his pregnant girlfriend and their baby inside. Foxworth then engaged in a shootout with the officers, firing 12 shots before he was wounded.
Ayala, 49, was promoted to detective 2nd grade. Keenan, 52, was promoted to detective 1st grade. Granahan, 35, was promoted to detective 3rd grade. For additional footage from today's promotion ceremony, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.
