Parks Dept. keeping an eye out for violations
Brooklyn residents are being warned to follow the rules posted at local parks and beaches or risk a pricey fine.
The city parks department is on patrol as Memorial Day revelers head out for the holiday. Officials are reminding residents that barbecuing is only allowed in certain areas and that people will be instructed to move if they set up shop in a restricted area.
Smoking and setting off fireworks are also strictly prohibited. The parks commissioner says the rules aren't meant to spoil the fun, but are put in place to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time outdoors.
