Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer travel season

The summer travel season has officially begun as an estimated 35 million Americans take to the roads for Memorial Day weekend.

According to AAA, those millions of people will travel at least 50 miles from home for the holiday, an increase of 1.2 percent from last year.

Gas prices are also unexpectedly on a steady decline. AAA reports the average price for regular gas in New York is $4.01 per gallon, compared to $4.21 just last month.
