NY lawmakers pass bill to end smoking outside schools

State lawmakers have passed a bill to ban smoking outside public and private schools.
Lawmakers say the ban is part of an effort to protect children from secondhand smoke. Residents are split on how they feel about the ban. Some say if it was possible smoking should be banned completely.
State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (D-Bronx), who sponsored the bill, expects Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign it into law within the next few weeks.
