Greenpoint residents call for action on stalled park plan

Residents and community leaders in Greenpoint are calling for movement on a park project that has ground to a halt. The city promised seven years ago to put a park in a lot at 65 Commercial St. The lot is currently used to store the MTA's emergency vehicles. Before the city-owned property can be turned into a park, a new storage space must be found for the vehicles. Sources say the city initially found a new location, but those plans fell through. City Councilman Stephen Levine took part in an oversight meeting today to get to the bottom of what's taking long for a new park to come to Greenpoint. At the meeting, the MTA said it's still waiting for a viable spot for its vehicles.
