A Brooklyn mother has received $2 million from the city in a settlement in the death of her son at Riker's Island.
Charnel Robinson's 18-year-old son Christopher was beaten to death by fellow inmates at Riker's Island in 2008. He had been serving time for violating his parole. Prosecutors say that as he was beaten to death, corrections officers stood by and did nothing. Robinson says she doesn't feel as if the settlement is a victory, because it doesn't bring her son back.
Three corrections officers were convicted in the case and two inmates are serving 10 to 12 years for the killing.
