Salvation Army challenges New Yorkers to give back

The Salvation Army is challenging all New Yorkers to perform at least one new act of kindness every day as part of the 'Doing the Most Good Week.'
The Salvation Army Community Center located in Bushwick says it could always use volunteers for the food pantry or the soup kitchen. Center officials say even if you don't have the time, you can still help by donating items for the food pantry.
Other recommendations to participate include providing a meal to a veteran in need, visiting someone who is housebound or reading to the elderly at a nursing home.
