Study: Dogs at home make for healthier babies
A recent study released by the American Academy of Pediatrics says that cats or dogs in the home lead to healthier babies.
The report says that dogs provide better protection for the infants than cats, because many dogs pick up dirt from the outside and transmit germs to the infants, boosting their immunity early on in life.
According to the study, children in dog-owning families had 44 percent less inner ear infections.
However, the report says that the effects are less noticeable for dogs in the city that may only walk on a sidewalk and not in the dirt, where many germs and microbes actually reside.
