Arrest made in West Indian Day Parade fatal stabbing
One arrest has been made in connection with the violent aftermath of the West Indian Day Parade.
According to police, 21-year-old Gabriel Hernandez got into an altercation with a 26-year-old man at a Chinese restaurant on Saint Johns Place near Utica Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. They say the man was stabbed in the neck and later died at Kings County Hospital.
At around the same time, authorities say a second man was also stabbed in the neck on Eastern Parkway and died at the same hospital. That victim has been identified as Mallinckrodt Leandre of Monroe, New York.
Another two people were wounded in a shooting on the parkway at around 6 p.m., near New York Avenue. Authorities say the victims are a man and a woman who are both expected to survive.
Police have not yet made any arrests in the second stabbing or the double shooting. They say the investigations are ongoing.
