Students and teachers from a Brooklyn junior high school hit the big screen today. The chess team at I.S. 318 in Williamsburg has multiple championship titles under its belt, but budget cuts forced administrators to cut the program. Now, the team is funded by private donations. Filmmaker Katie Dellamaggiore followed the I.S. 318 chess team for a year and documented their story in "Brooklyn Castle." The film received rave reviews at South by Southwest. It premiered tonight at the Sunshine Theater and Lincoln Center.
