Sunset Park tenants say help is slowly trickling in
Tenants in three buildings along 46th Street in Sunset Park say the city has slowly been helping them out after their landlord failed to make necessary repairs.
Many of the tenants began their protest in July by holding a strike and refusing to pay rent.
Months later, the city began fixing some bathrooms, and today, oil was delivered to fire the boiler.
The landlord, Orazio Petito, has more than 130 building violations against him.
Tenants say they are suing and hope to turn the buildings into a co-op.
