Corn stalks sprout up in Carroll Gardens
The latest crop to pop up in Brooklyn has taken Carroll Gardens residents by surprise.
Stalks of corn about 6 feet tall have made a home in the tree beds around Fourth Avenue and President Street. Hans Hesselein, of the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, says someone must have planted the corn intentionally, but it remains a mystery as to who it was.
Anyone hoping to get a taste of the corn is out of luck. Hesselein says there aren't enough stalks to produce quality kernels.
