Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced he is seeking $30 billion in federal aid to pay for the massive destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy.

The governor is also asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reimburse 100 percent of any out-of-pocket storm-related costs, such as shelters or police.

A new 24-hour, seven days a week service where people can call and receive insurance advice was also announced by the governor today. Cuomo says the real-live person will also be able to contact personal insurance company's on residents behalf. The insurance service number is 1-800-339-1759.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg also announced that he is asking City Council for an additional $500 million toward repairs.

Bloomberg says $200 million will go to pay for repairs at public schools damaged by Sandy. The other $300 million will go to pay for repairs at public hospitals.

The City Council is expected to vote on the additional funds tomorrow.

The city has already spent $134 million on storm-related emergency relief, according to Bloomberg.
