Canarsie residents claim FEMA has denied them relief efforts
Residents in the hard-hit neighborhood of Canarsie say they feel like they've been forgotten nearly two weeks after Superstorm Sandy hit the area.
Neighbors and community activists gathered Sunday in front of a Canarise home on a street where many have been forced to deal with devastation caused by Sandy.
Residents claim that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials have denied them relief efforts.
Canarsie is located in a Zone B evacuation area, but the nearby Jamaica Bay overflowed into the neighborhood at the height of the storm.
Residents say they hope that FEMA will change its assessment method in the future when looking at homes that were devastated by natural disasters.
