Drivers whose license plates end in an even number or zero may only buy gas on even-numbered days. "This is not a step we take lightly," says Bloomberg. Commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and paratransit vehicles are among those vehicles exempt to the rule. NYPD officers will be deployed at gas stations as long as the policy is in place.
