executive order mandating odd-even gas rationing beginning Friday at 6 a.m. Drivers whose license plates end with a letter or odd number may only buy gas on odd-numbered days. Drivers whose license plates end in an even number or zero may only buy gas on even-numbered days. "This is not a step we take lightly," says Bloomberg. "But given gas shortages and the growing frustrations of New Yorkers, we believe it's the right step."
