Bloomberg gives an update on Sandy

Mayor Bloomberg gave an update on the city's current situation regarding the aftermath of Sandy this afternoon. Bloomberg stated that the HOV restrictions that were in place will end at 5 p.m. today and that there will be no restrictions this weekend. Bloomberg also stated that the majority of New York City schools will reopen on Monday. Depending on power conditions, nearly 40 schools might not be able to open. As for the massive power outage, Bloomberg says that most of Manhattan should have its power restored by midnight tonight. The mayor also says that the city is distributing water and meals to people in the most affected areas which includes Coney Island, Staten Island, Chinatown and the Rockaways. Also stated during the mayor's press conference was that the major fuel issues are starting now to be alleviated and that some city parks are reopening today.
