Volunteers search for missing man after reported sighting
A Marine Park family is continuing to search for a young man with special needs who went missing last month.
Brian Gewirtz, 20, went missing on Feb. 17 from his family's home. Relatives got a tip on Thursday that he may have been spotted near Atlantic Avenue and Bond Street.
Volunteers and family members spent the day Saturday searching for him and handing out fliers with Gewirtz's photo.
Gewirtz's mother is inconsolable at times. Her son has high-functioning autism and diabetes, adding even more urgency to the search.
The family has set up a Facebook page and an email account where tips can be sent.
Gewirtz was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and brown boots. Anyone who sees him is being urged to call police immediately.
