A man who used to defend America is accused of trying to join the Islamic State.
Authorities say 47-year-old Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh, of New Jersey, was arraigned in federal court in Brooklyn Wednesday on charges that he planned to travel to Syria and fight with ISIS.
Federal prosecutors say the U.S. Air Force veteran decided to join the terror group after being fired from his job as an airplane mechanic.
Pugh was stopped at a Turkish airport in January. He was found carrying a laptop containing information on border crossing points and more than 180 propaganda videos for terrorism.
Pugh's attorney entered a not guilty plea on his client's behalf.
