The NYPD has made its first arrest using new crime-fighting technology that launched in Brooklyn just last week. 

Police are crediting the ShotSpotter for the recent firearms arrest of two teenagers in East Flatbush. 

According to officers, they received a ShotSpotter alert, which immediately dispatched them to the area near Kings Highway and Church Avenue. Surveillance video only on News 12 shows cops swarming the area and a group of teens running away. 

Authorities say they then spotted the two suspects handing off a gun. Their names are not being released because they are only 15 years old, but both are being charged with criminal possession of a weapon. 

The ShotSpotter is made up of multiple sensors and microphones that detect gunshots. It also uses GPS technology to pinpoint the location and direction of the shots fired, and sends police to the scene. 

The system is only being used in five Brooklyn precincts and several Bronx precincts so far.
