Firefighters battle 3-alarm blaze in Canarsie

Dozens of firefighters rushed to the scene of an early morning three-alarm fire in Canarsie.

Officials say it started inside the basement of a private home on East 78th Street at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, and quickly spread to the first and second floors. Viewer video captured flames shooting out of the home.

The family says everyone made it out of the burning house uninjured, but that they lost everything.

The fire did not spread or cause any extensive damage to the attached neighboring homes.

The cause is under investigation.
