Safety deposit boxes stolen in Santander bank heist

Police say a Santander bank branch in Bensonhurst experienced a Hollywood-style heist last weekend, with several safety deposit boxes stolen.
Police say the burglary happened last Saturday in a 14-hour window between 1:30 p.m. and 3:20 a.m. inside the Santander bank branch at 23-57 86th St.
Officials say the suspects entered the bank by using power tools to break the basement wall. The thieves were able to make their way into the bank's vault and steal an unknown amount of property.
One man whose safety deposit box was stolen says that the bank never notified him of the heist and that he was instead told by a friend. He says that the items stolen from the box held memories that money can't buy.
A representative from Santander bank says that they are working with the customers affected by the incident and that a major case squad is launching a full investigation.
