Video shows man being beaten by group of girls

Cellphone video purportedly captured an elderly man being beaten by a group of girls on a bus in Brooklyn.

The video, posted online by website MediaTakeOut, reportedly shows a group of teenage girls exchanging words with the victim on an MTA bus. Once the conversation became heated, the man allegedly struck one of the girls with his bag. Several girls then allegedly join together and continually hit him.

The man in the video eventually fights back against the gang of girls, grabbing one of them by the hair. The girls proceed to yell at him, with one of them allegedly asking for a knife.

Community advocate Tony Herbert says he is appalled by the video. He is now calling on the community to come together and stop this sort of violence from occurring again.

Police say they have not received a formal complaint regarding the incident, but are investigating the assault.
