Massive sinkhole caves under fire truck
A massive sinkhole sent two firefighters to the hospital and tied up traffic in East Flatbush today.
Officials say the pavement caved in under the right front wheel of a fire truck parked on the side of the road, sending the tire underground.
It happened at around 11 a.m. on Rockaway Parkway and Linden Boulevard, directly in front of Brookdale Hospital.
Firefighters worked to use special airbags to pump the tire back above ground, but one bag popped out with such force that it hit two of them, knocking one unconscious. Fortunately, both are expected to be OK.
Chopper 12 flew overhead as first responders descended on the hole and blocked off traffic in the area.
