Man leaves Bensonhurst home, disappears
The family of a man who was seen on surveillance video leaving his home Monday is asking for the public's help in finding him.
The family of 24-year-old Xiao Bo Zhu, of Bensonhurst, says he had never gone missing before, so his disappearance has left them shocked and worried. Relatives also say that he has had a history of anxiety since he came to the U.S. several years ago.
Relative say Zhu dropped out of college last year and began working part time at a local store, but he had hoped to return to school.
He left behind his wallet, which contained a note saying that he would be found at the bottom of the sea in Coney Island, according to relatives.
Family members have searched the beach, posted signs and reached out to people on social media. They have also contacted their state assemblyman.
A cashier at a local business called the family to say that store employees saw Zhu, but relatives later determined that the man wasn't Zhu.
Zhu was last seen wearing a black jacket, jeans, gray shoes and a black backpack. He often spent time at the Mapleton Library only a few blocks away from his home.
Anyone with information about Zhu's disappearance is asked to call police at 1-800-577-TIPS.
