'All Lives Matter' meeting held in Crown Heights
Elected officials and community leaders gathered Monday for an "All Lives Matter" criminal justice town hall meeting in Crown Heights.
Hosted by state Sen. Jesse Hamilton, the meeting gave a voice to the Brooklyn community, allowing them to discuss possible solutions to issues in the area and beyond.
"We're trying to be more proactive working in the community and making sure that when the summer does come, we have everything under control," Hamilton said. "We want to get input from the community to have true dialogue."
Panelists spoke about criminal justice reform and the deaths of unarmed civilians, including Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Eric Garner in Staten Island, Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and others across the country.
Organizers say they hope the meeting spurs conversation that will bring change and solutions to help save lives.
