A Memorial Day weekend ceremony at Cadman Plaza Park was held in honor of U.S. veterans.
The ceremony was held in honor of Brooklyn's World War II veterans outside the Brooklyn War Memorial.
A wreath was laid and the National Anthem was sung in a show of thanks to the veterans who sacrificed so much.
The ceremony was held amid efforts to reopen the War Memorial, which has been closed to the public since 1990. The Cadman Park Conservancy has set up a GoFundMe campaign and is hoping to raise more than $1 million.
Inside the memorial, the names of more than 11,000 Brooklyn service members who died during the war are listed.
