Former LIU basketball star returns to the court
Former LIU Brooklyn basketball star Julian Boyd has returned to the court after seeing his athletic career repeatedly stop and start again.
The Texas native became well-known fast, winning the Northeast Conference rookie of the year honors, but he had to sit out the next year after being diagnosed with an enlarged heart condition.
Boyd made his first comeback just one year later, taking home the NEC player of the year award. Then the next season, he tore the ACL in his knee, an injury he would suffer two more times over the following 13 months, putting an end to his college basketball career.
However, Boyd came back yet again at the Gotham Hoops Invitational over the weekend with a heeled knee and good spirits. He even got to play with some of his former LIU teammates who were thrilled to see him back in action.
Despite all his roadblocks, Boyd says he isn't giving up on his dream to play professionally, whether it be for the NBA or overseas.
