Hundreds walk for pancreatic cancer research
Hundreds of Brooklyn residents are walking to raise money for cancer research.
More than 200 people walked 1 to 3 miles Sunday around the track at the Carmine Carro Community Center in Marine Park in the 5th annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk.
All money from the walk benefits the Lustgarten Foundation. The organization says this year alone, more than 46,000 individuals in this country will be diagnosed with this disease and 39,000 will die from it.
The walk has raised almost $160,000 for cancer research in the past five years.
Families taking part in the walk today are hoping to raise even more money and also heighten awareness of the disease.
All of the money raised will go to cancer research.
