Officials: 6 injured, 1 dead after Flatbush fire

An early morning fire in Flatbush injured six people and forced two people to jump from their windows.

One of the people who jumped died from their injuries. He was identified as Tony Celestin, an active member of the community and a father of three.

Officials say Celestin was forced to jump from a third-story window and landed on a mattress. The other man who jumped landed on an awning and survived.

The incident took place at around 1 a.m. at a building on Nostrand Avenue.

Officials are investigating what sparked the fire.
