Fire breaks out inside Bath Beach home

One minor injury was reported after flames broke out inside a home in Bath Beach.

Initial reports said that someone was trapped inside as firefighters rushed to 83rd Street at around 9 a.m. Thursday. Fortunately, that wasn't the case.

The fire was contained mostly to the first and second floors of the three-story home. Neighbors say that heavy smoke spread into several nearby houses, forcing many residents to temporarily evacuate.

Officials had the blaze under control relatively quickly, and the cause remains under investigation.
