Confetti coming from Brooklyn for World Cup celebration
First, there was a celebration in Los Angeles. Now, it's time for the U.S. Women's Soccer team to take on New York City.
The World Cup-winning team will be honored with a parade on Friday down the Canyon of Heroes in Manhattan, but revelers can expect a strong showing from Brooklyn.
The ticker tape set to fill the air is Brooklyn-made, from Atlas Packaging in Red Hook.
The company has also supplied similar confetti for victory parades by the New York Giants. It is made from recycled paper.
While the first woman honored with a ticker-tape parade in the city was Olympic swimmer Gertrude Ederle in 1926, no women's team has ever received the honor.
The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on Friday. It will stretch from Battery Park to City Hall along Broadway.
