Cuomo signs law to protect nail salon workers

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is cracking down on the nail salon industry.

The governor signed into law Thursday a new bill that helps ensure fair wages and hours, and a sanitary and safe working environment at all salons, even for those workers who are undocumented.

Cuomo has already set up a task force to shut down the worst salon offenders and to make sure that they are all licensed.

The legislation includes an outreach campaign to help nail salon employees understand their rights so that the worst offenders are shut down.
