An elderly woman is dead after being hit by a dump truck while crossing the street in Bushwick.
According to police, 82-year-old Ora Walker, of Brooklyn, was struck on Broadway and Gates Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Mack truck was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection. When the light turned green, it started moving just as Walker began to walk across.
The 40-year-old driver remained at the scene. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed at this time.
