Police: 2 women, man trespass on hospital maternity ward

Police say three people snuck into the maternity ward at NYU Lutheran Medical Center to try to gain access to a baby.
They say the three suspects, a man and two women, somehow got through security and made it inside the maternity ward and right into a patient's room Sunday at around 2 p.m.
The three allegedly approached a mother and asked permission to take a picture with her newborn baby, but when the patient refused, the three fled and took off in a white minivan.
Investigators say the two women are between 30 and 35 years old, and about 5 foot 4 inches. Police describe the man to be about 30 to 35 years old, 5 foot 7 inches and bald.
Some people News 12 spoke to in the neighborhood say they are surprised that people could gain access so easily.
NYU Lutheran Medical Center said in a statement, "The trespassers were unable to achieve whatever goal they attempted. At no time did they have contact with any child... Our security team immediately notified the NYPD and other New York City hospitals to be aware and vigilant."
