Free adoptions mark 'Clear the Shelters' event
Hundreds of homeless pets in Brooklyn and across the city are expected to find new families this weekend as adoption fees are waived at local shelters.
"Clear the Shelters" is a nationwide event that hopes to raise awareness about the countless cats and dogs who are waiting in shelters for the right family to come along.
Official numbers on adoptions aren't in yet, but the line out the door at an East New York animal care center was a good sign.
